About Us

Hertfordshire is a strong Netball county with a history that goes back to the early days of Netball in England. The County has over the recent years, produced many innovative ideas that have been adopted nationally. In short, Hertfordshire is a creative and forward looking county, with an ethos of Netball for All.

Today, Hertfordshire has over 2,200 participants, affiliated through some 165 clubs playing in 12 senior leagues and 5 junior leagues, plus around 130 senior and 15 primary schools.

Hertfordshire is a mainly rural county with two concentrated urban districts based on Stevenage (2) and Watford (9). Netball in Hertfordshire is planned around the 10 local authority districts.

Hertfordshire has always sought to  develop Junior Clubs and Junior Sections of senior clubs and hence provide a Player Centred environment.  This model specifically provides the link between those children who have learnt the basic skills (e.g. 1st Step and High Five Netball and the TOPS Programme) through to their development to the England Netball Talent 12 development squad.  Additionally, there are the County and Satellite Netball Academies and the Talent Development Programme.  Below this are the Local Coaching Centres.  Hertfordshire has also developed close partnerships with the Sports Development Officers (SDOs) of the Local Authorities ans the newly established School Sport Partnerships with their PDMs.  HNA also provides support in the provision of netball for the disabled, in particular mild learning difficulties (MLD), the socially deprived and ethnic minorities.
